After a brief flirtation with sculpture, Stephen worked as a 3D artist on music videos and commercials, before teaming up with Nick Losse to form directing duo Ubik. Under the Ubik moniker they created a body of innovative, distinctive and genre-blending work across a range of platforms. Highlights from this period include designing and directing the VFX for Russell T Davies’ show ‘Wizards Vs Aliens’ and creating a British Arrows award winning spot for MTV.
As one third of award winning directing collective Up The Resolution, Dom was responsible for producing and directing a portfolio of work that ranged in tone and style from music videos for The Automatic and The Cinematic Orchestra through to commercials for Space NK, Seat and Ford, to broadcast graphics for Chris Morris’s prophetic sitcom Nathan Barley. Following this, Dom focussed solely on producing with a long stint as the lead producer for another award winning studio before perfecting his skills freelancing for some of the uk’s top animation houses.
Nick came up through the ranks as a 2D artist and animator, working on many different aspects of production, from concept to delivery. His love of a good storyboard and model sheet make him instrumental in the pre-production process, making sure a project launches smoothly and seamlessly. As part of Ubik, Nick was responsible for setting the tone of a varied body of award winning work - from live action, to stop-motion, to full CG and everything inbetween.
Griff started his career as a children’s book illustrator where he created the 'Stanley' series of books, which went on to be picked up by the Disney Channel for an animated series. After a slight change in direction he teamed up with Dom to form Up The Resolution where he directed a broad range of eclectic work including the award winning music video for The Cinematic Orchestra, which starred Peter Mullen and Julia Ford. Since then he’s worked as an independent animator and director, creating a multitude of genre jumping material including the short films ‘The Gift’ starring Kate Dickie and ‘Wish List’ for Channel 4 Random Acts.
Jack Waldouck New Business
Jack, the newest edition to the Local Hero crew, is a man of many talents; actor, model and really, really, really, ridiculously good looking. Finally the lure from the other side of the camera became too much for him. After spending years beguiled by the sleep deprived, light starved and badly fed people who lurked on the other side he could fight it no longer and vaulted the void like a deer into the headlights of a car. Welcome to the industry Jack!
